Audience Research

For my audience research I am going to be filming people when they answer the questions that we are planning to ask them. I think that this will be more interesting to put on my blog because it is more interactive and it is better that just looking at a picture and reading it. The questions that we are going to ask are:

- Do you enjoy watching short films?

- What events do you think will happen is a thriller film?

- What is you favourite genre of film?

- Why do you prefer this genre?

- In what way are you most likely to watch a short film?

- How often do you sit and watch a short film?

This is the short video that i made for our audience research.

Doing this piece of research before we started our production really helped us when we did start. This is because we had an idea of what our target audience thought should be in a thriller film and this then helped us base the entire and work it around the feedback that was given. For example when we asked them what events they think would happen in a thriller film Lewis answered saying that he thinks something surprising would happen. So we took this and added something into our film that was surprising which is the head smash with the hammer and the end twits which shows the audinece that it could have been Sam all along. I really think this was an effective piece of advice because these two parts of our film were the main two bits that really made the film what it was. Again on the same question both Toni and Taylor answered by saying someone would die. I agree with this as i think it is an important convention of a thriller film so in most of them people do die. We took this and added in the death of Glen's character, Mike. This again was a really effective point because the murder was the highest point of action in the film and it made the entire story line work.
